Marcelo Barraza-Alfaro
Hi! I am a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a member of the Planet Formation Lab led by Prof. Richard Teague.
My research is focused on the study of the gas dynamics of planet-forming disks surrounding young stars. My main goal is to help with the interpretation of ALMA observations of protoplanetary disks. In particular, I explore the potential of ALMA to resolve signatures of gas turbulence, which plays an important role during the initial stages of planet formation.
To conduct my research, I employ hydrodynamical simulations, radiative transfer calculations, simulated observations, and Python suites for data analysis.
